But last year we only won two games and this year we came in 2nd place in our division. We are “The Sons” and its a bunch of guys from the restaurant and it is so much fun to play. I do feel like a truck hit me last night.. ankles, knees, back, thighs, arm....wrecked. As the elder statesman on the team I am the pitcher and with three games last night I probably did 1,000 lunges. The only position tougher was the guy behind the plate that did 1,000 squats.
This weekend the family and I were in Athens Ga. for the Stinchcomb brothers annual charity golf tourney. You may know Matt and Jon Stinchcomb played football at Georgia and are two of the nicest guys in the world. Matt was given the award for highest GPA of a collegiate football player in his senior year(he’s says “yeah, but look at the competition") and was drafted by the Raiders in Oakland. He finished his career in Tampa Bay due to injury and is in the investment business in Atlanta with his wife Jenny and three beautiful daughters...they look like their momma. Jon was drafted by the New Orleans Saints and starts on the offensive line. He and his wife Ali, who is a teacher in New Orleans, live around Athens in the off season. The brothers started “The Countdown To Kickoff “ three years ago to benefit children’s hospitals around Atlanta and I was happy to go back this year. Took second place in the tourney as a matter of fact. You see how I look like a shrimp in the picture of us? Well, I’m six foot four and weigh.... a lot so you can see these boys made their momma work at the dinner table.
Next Friday if y’all are near Valdosta, Bobby and are doing a show to help America’s Second Harvest. We cook and take questions, sign books and help out with the auction. We always try to bring one of a kind items signed by the family and raise some money to keep our kids from going hungry. I went to school in Valdosta and am happy to go back and give back.
Y’all come on down to South Georgia if you can.
Questions from last week:
Meagan- mid-town is nice, the islands are great and downtown is the best but pretty expensive. Check out savannahnow.com for some listings.
Deb- we are, of course, southern.
Cassandra- sorry you couldn’t get into the restaurant here but the Tunica property is using all the same recipes as The Lady and Sons. Our staff spent a lot of time over there and I gotta tell you, its good.
Its time to wake Jack up from his nap so that’s it for this week.
thanks again y’all
do good things
